MY KIDDOS

I teach in Frankfort Independent Schools at Second Street School, a K-8 building. K-3 are self-contained classrooms.  4th - 8th are departmentalized.

Every one around here, in the capitol city, refers to our school district as the "city schools."  Our kids, for the most part, hail from one of a few neighborhoods.

• South Frankfort  
• Walter Todd  
• Downtown 
• East Main/Downtown
• We had a small percentage that were tuition students, but the exact percentage was not available. 

During the 2015-2016 school year, Second Street School had 506 students enrolled. The district as a whole enrolled 735 students. Sixty-nine percent of the school's population was housed at Second Street School. 

A few other items of demographic information that would help to understand our school:

• 65.2% of our students were white
• 19.2% of our students were African-American
• 4.9% of our students were Hispanic
• Less than 1% were Asian
• 10.5% of our students were Two or more races

Within our student body: 

• 51.6% were male
• 48.4% were females
• 63.8% of the student body were categorized as "Free" lunch
• 3.4% of the student body were categorized as "Reduced" lunch
